Walking on Water

· Bible Interpretation,Religion

The Gospel reading for the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost is the story of Jesus’s walking on the water as the disciples gazed at him and his light from the boat. They were, quite understandably, afraid. He reassured them by saying, “Take heart, it is I; have no fear.” Peter then answered Jesus saying, “Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water.” Jesus did so, but Peter was afraid when the wind whipped up and worried that he would drown. Jesus reached out his hand and caught him, saying, “O man of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Jesus exhorts all of us to get out of the safety of our boats and follow him with faith. We need to do something with our lives that challenges us and makes us embrace faith and hope to accomplish the task.
