The Flower Shop

· Love,Books

I just read a gem of a book about a flower shop in Vienna named Blumenkraft. It is a book about “charm, grace, beauty, tenderness in a commercial setting.” It’s a story about characters who love flowers, their customers, and each other - and take their work very seriously. One chapter I loved was about the flower hospice they have created. In moving flowers, if a stem breaks or a flower’s quality is compromised, the flower might be placed in the flower hospice. “Hospice flowers are used as free giveaways to children and to friends of the staff, and for practical arrangements like bridesmaids’ bouquets for hypothetical weddings or miniature flower bunches for Barbie dolls.” Sweet, indeed!
